Specialising in quality hardware and technical expertise, Technical Equipment has been supplying to the boat building, joinery, cabinet making and marine industries for over 20 years.

The Technical Equipment Group has grown rapidly since the establishment of the original parent company Technical Equipment Ltd in 1981 by Graham Thomson. Technical Equipment Ltd maintains sole distributorship for Marco horns pumps and search lights, Maestrini strainers and fittings, Wallas diesel stoves and heaters and Gebo hatches.

In 1991, Graham's son Peter Thomson established Technical Equipment Supplies Ltd which took on the distributorship of Hettich kitchen hardware. After 15 years in business Technical Equipment Supplies imports and distributes product from over 20 different suppliers spanning Europe, Asia, Australia and America. These suppliers include Southco access hardware, Lamp joinery fittings, VingCard lock cases, Lane Security architectural door hardware, Stauff and Ham-let hydraulic fittings, Sea & Symphony TV movement systems and CKD pneumatic fittings. Technical Equipment Supplies also exports its own design of hatch frame with inflatable seal system, AirTech.

In 1994, Graham's youngest son Mark Thomson established Technical Equipment Marine which supplies an extensive range of hardware fittings to the New Zealand marine industry, including Besenzoni passerelles and cranes, Niro Petersen stainless steel hardware, Multiplex boarding systems, P.E. Design technical hinges, Taco hardware and Monitor Marine deck fittings. Mark also manufactures and exports Oceanlift cranes and davits.
